Origin

Makhana grows in still water. Across the shallow ponds and low wetlands of Bihar, the lotus plant has been cultivated for generations, and the seeds it produces are collected, dried and popped using methods passed down within farming families.
This is the tradition our Raw Makhana belongs to — a food shaped by water, patience and hand-work rather than machinery. We share this story as background to the ingredient itself, not as a claim about any single farm or batch.

Seeds are gathered by hand, as they traditionally have been.

Questions
Raw Makhana is plain, unseasoned makhana — the puffed seed of the lotus plant. It has not been flavoured or coated, so you can roast, season or cook with it exactly the way you prefer.
Phool makhana is the common Indian name for the same ingredient. The word refers to the lotus flower the seeds come from, and it is used interchangeably with makhana across most of India.
Makhana is traditionally associated with the shallow ponds and wetlands of eastern India, particularly the makhana-growing districts of Bihar, where the crop has been cultivated and hand-processed for generations.
It is commonly dry-roasted until crisp and then seasoned to taste. It can also be added to curries, kheer and other everyday preparations.
Raw Makhana is available in 100g at ₹149, 200g at ₹289 and 400g at ₹549.
